LBI Health Department Offering 3rd COVID-19 Vaccine Dose
Third doses of the COVID-19 vaccine are now available for immunocompromised people at the Long Beach Island Health Department.
SHIP BOTTOM, NJ — Immunocompromised people can now get a third dose, or booster shot, of the COVID-19 vaccine at the Long Beach Island Health Department.
A third vaccine dose is "intended to ensure that [immunocompromised people] have enough protection against COVID because they may not build up the same level of immunity as other people," said New Jersey Department of Health Commissioner Judy Persichilli during a Monday afternoon news conference.

Booster shots are available at the health department only by appointment, by calling the office at 609-492-1212 or scheduling online.
The shots are available to immunocompromised individuals who have already received their second dose more than 28 days ago.

The LBIHD requires individuals to bring their current COVID-19 vaccination record card identifying which 2-dose vaccine was administered prior and the dates.
