Little Egg Cops Arrest 2 On Multiple Charges After Car Hits Pole
Driver and passenger facing a host of drug and weapons charges, police say.

LITTLE EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP, NJ - Little Egg Harbor police recently arrested two Hammonton men on drug and weapons charges after the Toyota they were driving in struck a utility pole on Route 9 near Winding Wood Road on Thursday.
Officers spotted the passenger car off the roadway at 12:45 a.m. The impact caused significant damage to the car. The two men were seen leaving the vehicle with what appeared to be minor injuries, police said.
Police found quantities of cocaine, heroin, marijuana, and xanax as well as a stolen handgun and a shotgun in the car. The driver, Jose Marquez, 25, was charged with possession with the intent to distribute CDS, and weapons offenses including the unlawful possession of a weapon. The passenger, Rodney Gilliard Jr. 23, was charged with possession with the intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance.

Marquez was taken to the Ocean County Jail in Toms River. Gilliard was released on a summons. The investigation was conducted by Patrolmen Chris Myers and Tim Hoolahan with the assistance of the police department's street crimes unit.
