Long Beach Township To Install Cameras On The Boulevard To Monitor Road Conditions
Police chief is hoping a new app will cut down on the volume of calls to dispatch center.

LONG BEACH TOWNSHIP, NJ - Long Beach Township will install cameras on Long Beach Boulevard so residents and visitors can monitor road conditions like flooding and traffic with an app, according to The Sandpaper.
The first cameras will be placed in the area of 35th Street in the Brant Beach section, facing north and south, Police Chief Anthony Deely said.
“The emphasis is on inclusion of the public by allowing access to dedicated camera viewpoints,” Deely said. “This service will be an app that the public can (use) to view current conditions."

The chief is hoping that the cameras will help cut down call volume to the township's centralized dispatched center, which handles conditions for several towns on the island.
"The call volume inquiring about current conditions – mostly weather-related, and specifically flooding – should decrease and calls of priority can be better managed," Deely said.”
