This Manahawkin Candy Shop Is NJ's Best, Report Says

MANAHAWKIN, NJ — Candy shops are a staple of the Jersey Shore. Whether you want salt water taffy or homemade fudge, there's no shortage of places to get some sweets. But the absolute best place to shop in all of New Jersey is here in Manahawkin, according to a food website.

Sweet tooth-havers chose Lucille's Own Make Candies as the best candy shop in New Jersey, according to the website Foodie Haven. The website did not disclose their methodology for how the winners were chosen.

"Families vacationing at the Jersey Shore consider this establishment a mandatory stop, where children press their noses against candy-filled windows while parents sample exceptional handmade treats," the website wrote.

"Their chocolate-covered strawberries are legendary," Foodie Haven notes.

Lucille's has been around for nearly 100 years, with another location on Long Beach Island. Locals and tourists alike have been enjoying this shop's candy for four generations. The pastel pink building on Route 72 has long been a stop for those going to or from LBI for homemade sweets.
