Manahawkin Eatery Named 1 Of NJ's Best: Yelp

MANAHAWKIN, NJ — There's plenty of great places to eat in Manahawkin, from Italian food to steaks to vegetarian offerings. But one local restaurant is among the best in the entire state, according to a new list from Yelp.

The crowd-sourced review website recently shared a list of the "Top Restaurants In New Jersey," sharing the 100 highest-rated eateries across the Garden State. And coming in at number 69 is Mud City Crab House, located at 1185 E. Bay Ave., Manahawkin.

Mud City is a mainstay in Manahawkin, having recently celebrated its 25th anniversary. The restaurant is best known for its fresh, local seafood, which often comes directly from Manahawkin Bay right to Mud City.

New England style clam chowder, jumbo lump crab cakes and garlic mussels are among the dishes Mud City is known for, according to Yelpers.

"The Tide Table Group of restaurants consistently has great seafood, drinks and service," one reviewer wrote. The group also owns Manahawkin restaurant The Old Causeway and popular LBI eateries Ship Bottom Shellfish, Bird & Betty's, Parker's Garage and Black Whale Bar and Grill.

Another one of NJ's best restaurants is nearby - it's The Chicken or the Egg in Beach Haven, which comes in at number 60 on Yelp's list.
