MATES In Manahawkin Makes Top 5 List Of NJ Public High Schools

MANAHAWKIN, NJ - The Marine Academy of Technology and Environmental Science has been named one of the top five high schools in the state by Niche.com.

The list of the best public high schools was released recently as part of Niche's 2019 K-12 rankings. MATES came in at number four on the list.

To arrive at the rankings, Niche said it looked at data from the U.S. Department of Education as well as test scores, college data and ratings collected from Niche users. (You can read more about the rankings and the methodology here.)

The school - better known as MATES - is designed to give its students a rigorous academic curriculum with concentration in the areas of math, science, and technology.The Ocean County Vocational Technical School District is responsible for recruitment, admissions, and the instructional program.

MATES is a competitive, specialized high school that selects students from applicants found within the public and private schools of Ocean County. The school is centrally located to the south of New York City, north of Atlantic City, and east of Philadelphia.
