'Never Once Gave Up': Stafford Mourns The Loss Of Brody Peak
Stafford Township has been in mourning this week since the death of Brody Peak on Saturday.
MANAHAWKIN, NJ — Despite a difficult battle with cancer, Brody Peak "never once gave up, or even complained," his family said.
Stafford Township has been in mourning this week since the death of Brody Peak on Saturday.
Brody, 5, of Manahawkin, was diagnosed with AML leukemia at 2 years old and received a series of treatments to fight the disease.

“Our sweet, precious boy, is now free of pain. He fought so, so hard, for the past 907 days, and never once gave up, or even complained,” the Peak family wrote on Facebook Dec. 12.
The Stafford Township community has continued to show support for the Peak family through their loss.

“Brody was loved by his family and embraced by so many in our community and beyond,” Mayor Greg Myhre told Patch in an email Wednesday. “My heart aches for his family who worked tirelessly and did everything they possibly could to ensure that he received the best medical treatment available. My prayers are with them."
During the town’s Santa Run on Tuesday evening, the Stafford Township Police Department and the Stafford Township Volunteer Fire Company #1 made a special stop at the Peaks’ home. Officer Marisa Lawrence decorated her squad car in honor of Brody, with orange string lights on the back window spelling out his name.
Thousands of others in the local community have expressed grief and extended their condolences to the Peak family on social media. Many recalled Brody's sweet smile and the courage he showed over the past three years.
On Facebook one person wrote, “My heart breaks for your family. He was such an amazing warrior and always had a smile on his face. Thoughts and prayers with you all.”
Another person said, “I am so sorry for your loss, he was such a fighter! I can’t imagine what you are going through but know everyone is here for you and sending our love and prayers.”
There are a few ways to support the Peak family during this difficult time. A GoFundMe page has been set up and another fundraiser is selling "Brody's Crew" face masks. More information on where to send mail, gift cards and donations to the Peak family can be found here.
“We are getting a lot of messages asking what we need and how you can help. We are so grateful for the generosity from all of you. PRAY - For our family, in such a time of need,” the family said on Facebook.
