NJ Weather: Thunderstorms, Heavy Rainfall In Forecast Thursday
Localized flooding and dangerous cloud-to-ground lightning are also possible, forecasters say. Here's the latest.
NEW JERSEY - Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to hit the Garden State on Thursday, with some storms capable of producing heavy rainfall and flooding.
Isolated to scattered thunderstorms with dangerous cloud-to-ground lightning expected, alongside flooding to localized to areas that experience rapid runoff with heavy rainfall.
The National Weather Service says that the storms will mainly impact along and south/east of I-95.

For those along the Jersey Shore, AccuWeather forecasters warn of life-threatening rip currents in the surf zone, rough seas and coastal flooding during high tide through Saturday.



A flood advisory has been issued for Cumberland and Salem counties until 5:45 p.m. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected in the advisory area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have already fallen as of 2:40 p.m., with up to 1 to 2 inches of additional rainfall possible.

A hazardous weather outlook was issued Thursday morning for seven New Jersey counties. A hazardous weather outlook is issued when there is a potential hazardous weather or hydrologic event.
Here are the counties named in the outlook:

- Cumberland
- Atlantic
- Cape May
- Monmouth
- Sussex

Thursday Afternoon: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Cloudy, with a high near 73. Northeast wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Thursday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Patchy fog after 11 p.m. Otherwise, cloudy, with a low around 70. Northeast wind 5 to 10 mph. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Friday: A chance of showers, mainly before 2 p.m. Cloudy, with a high near 74. Northeast wind around 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
Friday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 69. Northeast wind 10 to 15 mph.
