Ocean Township Police, School Officials Address Safety Concerns
Police presence has been increased at the district's two schools

OCEAN TOWNSHIP, NJ - Don't be alarmed if you see an increased police presence in district schools.
More officers will be more visible in or around the schools, a direct result of the deadly Parkland, Florida school shootings in Florida.
"There is NO immediate threat to the school district," according to the police department's Facebook page.

Police met with schools Superintendent Lommerin to discuss current and future security measures in the district's schools.
The district already has a number of security items in place, including a uniformed police presence, visible stationary and random patrols, regular drills and direct radio contact between the school administration and police dispatchers, the post states.

"In most cases, as we are finding out about the latest incident, there are warning signs," the post states. "Speak with your children, tell them if they see something, they have to say something. This unfortunately is the reality we live in."
The school district has only two elementary schools - the Frederick A. Priff School and Waretown Elementary School.
