Police Report Flooding On Long Beach Island
Widespread minor to moderate coastal flooding expected with next high tide, National Weather Service says

LONG BEACH TOWNSHIP - Long Beach Township police are watching the next several high tides, which could cause flooding and some detours, according to a Nixle alert.
"The next few high tides will be higher than normal and may cause detours on our roadways," the alert states
High tides are due to arrive at 2:25 a.m. and 3:03 p.m. on Thursday, according to the alert.

Winds are expected to switch to the northwest late on Wednesday evening and could gust as high as 50 miles per hour.
Widespread minor to locally moderate coastal flooding is forecast with the oceanfront high tide, which is expected to occur between 11 p.m. and midnight. Waves will be around six to 10 feet tonight.

"Numerous roadways will flood and minor to moderate property damage is possible along tidal waterways," the NWS says. "The tide and wave action is expected to result in moderate beach erosion."
The NWS warns against driving your vehicle through flood waters.
"The water may be deeper than you think it is," the NWS says. "You will be putting yourself in danger and your vehicle may be damaged, leading to costly repairs."
