Popular Grocery Store Chain Proposes First Barnegat Location
Developers will seek approvals for the new grocery store from the Barnegat Township Planning Board at the end of the month.
BARNEGAT, NJ — A popular grocery store chain is aiming to open its first Barnegat location, according to public notice.
An application to construct a new Aldi Food Market on Barnegat Boulevard will be heard by the township planning board at their September meeting.
The 21,495 square foot Aldi would be located at 10 Barnegat Blvd., an empty plot of land directly behind Walgreens. The market itself would take up 19,631 square feet; there would also be two expansion areas of 1,864 square feet each.

There would be two entrances off Barnegat Boulevard and 95 parking spaces.
Developers are also seeking a number of variances and design waivers.

The only grocery chain presently in Barnegat is Acme. The closest Aldi is in Manahawkin.
Residents will have the opportunity to learn more about the proposal and share their thoughts at the Sept. 30 planning board meeting. It will start at 6:30 p.m. at 900 West Bay Ave.
