BARNEGAT, NJ — An uncontested primary in Barnegat Township may lead to a general election showdown this November.
One seat is open on the Township Committee. No Democrats filed to run; the only Republican running is Frederic Rubenstein. However, it's possible that by Election Day this fall, someone will seek to challenge the presumptive Republican primary winner.

Rubenstein has not previously served on the committee. However, those who frequent their meetings have likely seen and heard from him, as he is a regular attendee. Rubenstein, 76, currently serves as business administrator in Plumsted.
Here are the unofficial numbers from Tuesday's primary election. Note that the numbers remain unofficial until certified by the Ocean County Clerk's Office.
