Recycle Your Christmas Tree At Parks In Barnegat, Manahawkin

BARNEGAT, NJ — If you're taking down your holiday decorations and getting ready to get rid of your Christmas tree, Ocean County officials are urging you to recycle it.

Local parks, including several around Barnegat and Manahawkin, are accepting Christmas tree donations through Jan. 31.

Trees that are donated can be turned into woodchips for landscaping projects in Ocean County parks. In the past, recycled trees have also helped towns replenish their beach dunes.

“Recycling trees is an easy way for our residents to get rid of their tree after the holiday,” said Ocean County Commissioner Virginia E. Haines, chairwoman of the Ocean County Department of Parks and Recreation. “For many years now we have accepted discarded Christmas trees for recycling at several of our parks all across the County.”

Drop-off locations in Barnegat and Stafford include Cloverdale Farm County Park (34 Cloverdale Rd., Barnegat) and A. Paul King County Park (2 W. Bay Ave., Stafford).

• Freedom Fields County Park, 1160 Route 539, Little Egg Harbor Township

• Stanley H."Tip" Seaman County Park, 120 Lakeside Drive, Tuckerton
• Ocean County Golf Course at Atlantis, 261 Country Club Boulevard, Little Egg Harbor Township
• Ocean County Golf Course at Forge Pond, 301 Chambers Bridge Avenue, Brick Township

The Northern and Southern Recycling Centers also accept Christmas trees year-round during regular business hours from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The southern center is located at 379 Haywood Rd., Manahawkin. The northern location is at 601 New Hampshire Rd., Lakewood.
