Rough Seas Today On LBI, Along With A Moderate Rip Current Risk

National Weather Service is calling for waves of 5 to 6 feet.

LONG BEACH ISLAND, NJ - After a very brief respite, the rough surf on southern Ocean beaches is back.

Waves today will be from 5 to 6 feet, with easterly swells of 2 feet. There's also a moderate risk of rip currents, so if you can find beaches that are open, check with the local beach patrol first. Rips can always occur, anytime, anyplace, especially near jetties and other structures. Never swim on an unguarded beach and never swim alone or at night.

The ocean water temperature is 73 degrees. But that may vary, depending upon what beach you go to. Here are the few beaches on LBI that are still guarded on weekdays in September.
