Saker ShopRite Owners Buy Manahawkin Commons
The shopping center has several vacancies, including Manahawkin's former Kmart, which closed in 2017.

MANAHAWKIN, NJ — The Manahawkin Commons shopping center has a new owner: Saker Properties.
The news of the sale was initially reported by the Asbury Park Press. According to online property records, the entire shopping center was sold to Saker Properties of Manahawkin, LLC for $36.5 million this past December.
Saker owns several ShopRite stores throughout Ocean and Monmouth counties, including Manahawkin's existing ShopRite at Stafford Square Mall. The Saker family purchased Ocean County's seven Perlmutter-owned ShopRite stores in 2021, including Manahawkin, Toms River, Lacey, Waretown, Manchester, Jackson and Bayville.

Manahawkin Commons has several vacant storefronts, including the large Kmart which closed in 2017.
It's not clear what Saker has planned for the retail center. No plans have been filed with Stafford's planning board.

Different plans have been floated for the vacancy throughout the years. At one point, the plaza was supposed to house Burlington Coat Factory, Old Navy and Ross Dress for Less.
Manahawkin Commons also houses TJ Maxx/Home Goods, Regal Cinemas 10, Michael's, Famous Footwear and more.
