MANAHAWKIN, NJ — ShopRite is gearing up to move to its new, bigger location in Manahawkin. But while signs in the current store encourage customers to visit the Manahawkin Commons location starting Dec. 10, officials say there's no official opening date set.

"We're excited about moving the ShopRite of Manahawkin into a new location and look forward to continuing to serve the local community," CEO and President of Saker ShopRites Richard Saker said in a statement shared with Patch. "While we are eager to open, an official date has not yet been finalized as we await necessary approvals and the completion of key construction milestones."

The plans for the grocery store to move to the former Kmart were approved this past February. This World Class ShopRite will be about 116,000 square feet large - the current Stafford Square Mall location is 70,00 square feet, in comparison.

"We appreciate the community’s patience and enthusiasm and will share updates as soon as we have a confirmed timeline," Saker said.

It's unknown what will replace the existing building after the move. Pasbjerg Development Co., the plaza's broker, has the ShopRite location listed as available in February 2026.
