Stafford Fence Company Owner Gets Prison Time For Theft

Robert Vernon Perrini, 38, sentenced to half a year in prison and must make $11,000 in restitution

TOMS RIVER, NJ - The owner of a Manahawkin fence company has been sentenced to half a year in the Ocean County Jail for taking money and not completing the work, a spokesman for the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office said.

Superior Court Judge Michael Collins also ordered Robert Vernon Perrini, 38, of Perrini and Sons Fences to pay back $11,000 in restitution and to serve five years probation upon his release, spokesman Al Della Fave said.

Perrini previously pleaded guilty to theft. He drew up contracts with five victims for the purchase and installation of fences on their properties, provided completion times for the work and took deposits, Della Fave said.

"After receiving the initial deposit, Perrini did not complete the contracts, nor did he refund any of the customers' money," he said.

Investigators also learned that Perrini was working without a valid contractor's license, Della Fave said.
