Stafford Police Praise Students For Peaceful Protest At Southern

A moment of silence was held for each victim.

STAFFORD TOWNSHIP, NJ - They were peaceful, polite and they got their point across.

Students from Southern Regional High School participated in a ceremony on Wednesday to mark the deaths of the Parkland, Florida students who died in the mass school shootings last week.

The students read the names of each of the 17 victims who died in the shootings and provided a short biography of each victim, according to post on the Stafford Township Police Department's Facebook page.

The students then held a moment of silence for each victim.

"We salute the students in their efforts to stimulate discussion and change in an effort to stop the senseless violence that occurs far too often in our country," the post states.

Some police department members also attended the ceremony. Facebook posters praised their presence at the event.

"On their way back inside, so many students stopped and expressed their appreciation for the police officers and the work we do," the post states. "We truly have a wonderful community."
