STAFFORD, NJ — Stafford police are urging residents to lock their vehicles after a rise in car thefts in Beach Haven West and on Long Beach Island.

People should refrain from leaving key fobs in vehicles with push button starts and door lock entry codes.

Due to this practice, thieves can easily access vehicles and drive off with them.

“PLEASE do not be an easy target, the simple act of locking your car doors each night and taking your key fob with you can save you from being the victim of a car theft,” Stafford police said.
