Student Athletes Honored By Stafford Council

STAFFORD, NJ — Many local student athletes were celebrated at a recent Stafford Township Council meeting.

Mayor Greg Myhre kicked off the meeting with proclamations honoring the "very successful sport teams here in Stafford Township."

Eight teams and individuals were honored, taking up the first 45 minutes of the meeting. Those honored were: the Stafford Little League All Stars 12 U Baseball Team District 16 Champions; the Stafford Little League All Stars 10 U Baseball Team District 16 Champions and Section 4 Champions; Southern Regional School District Boys Varsity Lacrosse Team 2021-22; Kelly Enterline, Girls Track and Field Spring 2022; Southern Regional School District Boys Varsity Volleyball Team 2021-22; Lucas Kean, New Jersey State Boys Volleyball Player of the Year 2021-22; Fabian Gonzalez, Boys Track and Field Spring 2022; and Southern Regional School District Boys Varsity Wrestling Team 2021-22. These athletes ranged from under 10-years-old to now high school graduates.

All of the athletes honored experienced great achievements in the last year, winning championships and receiving awards. Myhre thanked the athletes, along with their parents and coaches.

The groups were honored with individual proclamations explaining what each did to deserve the honor, and the coaches spoke to further explain.

Audience members and council members cheered to show their pride in Stafford's athletes.
