STAFFORD, NJ — Officers stood shoulder to shoulder on Friday for the 43rd annual wreath laying ceremony honoring deceased officers who served in Stafford Township and Long Beach Island.

The tradition that dates back to 1978 pays respect to deceased police officers and personnel from the Stafford Township, Long Beach Township, Beach Haven, Ship Bottom, Surf City and Harvey Cedars Police Departments.

“During today’s ceremony, we were honored to stand alongside our fellow Brothers and Sisters in Blue, as Christmas wreaths and grave blankets were laid at each of the officers’ burial plots,” Stafford police said in a statement.
