Bernards High School Fencers Achieve Milestone 100th Wins

BERNARDSVILLE, NJ — Three Bernards High School fencers, Stella MacDonald, Emma Grau, and Oliver Po, recently fenced their 100th wins.

Po, a standout fencer, achieved this significant milestone in his high school fencing career this week when he secured his 100th victory against Ridge High School.

Stella MacDonald, a talented saber fencer, reached the impressive 100-win mark in her high school fencing career against Voorhees on Jan. 14.

Emma Grau earned her 100th win in saber against West Morris Mendham on Jan. 27. Achieving this milestone is a testament to the dedication, skill, and leadership of these three fencers, both on and off the strip.

As co-captains, Emma, Stella, and Oliver have guided their teammates to remarkable success.

Emma and Stella’s saber squad delivered a standout performance at the Santelli tournament, where they secured 7th place in their category and helped the team finish 15th overall.

The womens’ team also placed first in the County Tournament for the second year in a row and their squad placed first for the third year in a row.

Oliver has been a driving force for the mens’ team, leading the foil squad to an impressive 2nd-place finish at this year’s prestigious Cetrulo tournament and a first place win in the District 4 tournament. He also placed first in the County Tournament for the second year in a row.

Serving as squad leaders since their sophomore year, Emma, Stella, and Oliver have inspired their teammates with their dedication and passion for fencing.

Their leadership and remarkable accomplishments have helped to strengthen the Bernards High School fencing program. As they approach the close of the season of their senior year, their legacy will remain an enduring example of excellence and commitment to the sport.
