Bernards Township To Honor Local Veterans
The banner program honors veterans who served in a conflict who live or lived in Bernards Township

BASKING RIDGE, NJ—Bernards Township is looking for a few heroes. The recreation department is seeking veterans who have served in a conflict and live or have lived in Bernards Township for its new "Hometown Heroes" banner program.
"We wanted to honor our local veterans and display their heroism," said Jennifer Gander, Director of Bernards Township Parks and Recreation, "and we will continue to honor them each year."
The township's initial banner display ran from Memorial Day to July 4, and featured 36 veterans. The recreation commission is now accepting new applications to add to the display for the month of November for Veterans Day.

The banners will be displayed on poles at the Municipal Complex at 1 Collyer Lane in Basking Ridge. A donation of $75 is suggested to help cover the cost of banner production. Gander added that if you do not have a veteran to honor, a donation can help others honor a service member.
Applications, photos and documentation will be accepted in person or by mail to the Parks & Recreation Office, located at 1 Collyer Lane in Basking Ridge. Applications must be received by 4:30PM on Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2020.
