Bernards Twp. Sponsors Virtual Mental Health Seminar For Teens

The Bernards Township Library is sponsoring Support Without Stigma, a free webinar for teens and mental health on Wednesday

BASKING RIDGE, NJ—The Bernards Township Library, Bernards Health Department, and Somerset County are sponsoring a free webinar about teen mental health on Wednesday as part of the county's Stigma Free campaign.

The Stigma Free Campaign is an initiative of the county's Department of Human Services to raise awareness about mental health stigma in society today.

Topics include how a teen can identify when they or their peers are struggling with mental health, how to effectively communicate with peers, and when to involve an adult. The program is for people in grades 7-12.

According to the U.S. government, one in 10 young people in America has experienced a period of major depression. Moreover, the National Alliance on Mental Illness reported that 20 percent of teenagers are living with a mental health condition.
