Liberty Corner Fire Company Hosting Memorial Day Parade
The Memorial Day Parade will feature local scouts and youth sports clubs, and the Ridge High School band.

The Liberty Corner Fire Company will be hosting the Township Memorial Day Parade this year.
The parade will take place on Memorial Day, Monday, May 25, at 9 a.m. Those marching in the parade will assemble at the Liberty Corner Fire Company at 9 a.m. and step off from the fire company at 9:30 a.m. The parade route will proceed down Church Street toward the flag pole and memorial in downtown Liberty Corner.
The parade will feature the Ridge High School band, marching alongside local Scouts and youth sports clubs. Bernards Township police, fire and rescue squad, and veterans from the Lyons Veterans Administration (VA) Medical Center are also expected to be a part of the Memorial Day Parade.

Parade participants will be addressed by United States Representative Leonard Lance (N.J. 7th District) and District Commander Joseph Bennett of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Somerset County.
Additionally, Basking Ridge native, Marine Corps Capt. Stanford H. Shaw, III, will be honored with a special plaque that will be permanently on display at Ridge High School. Shaw, a 2002 graduate of Ridge High School, died after a United States Army UH-60 Blackhawk Helicopter crashed near Eglin, Florida, at approximately 8:30 p.m. on March 10, according to the United States Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command (MARSOC).

Shaw served as a team commander within the U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Special Operational Command. He was the recipient of numerous awards during his military tenure, including the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Navy Unit Commendation, Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation, National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Sea Service Deployment ribbon (with two stars), according to MARSOC.
Parade participants are asked to arrive at the Liberty Corner Firehouse before 9 a.m., at which time Church Street is expected to be closed to traffic. If participants arrive after 9 a.m., they are asked to enter the western driveway of the firehouse from the Somerville Road section of Church Street.
