Motorcycle Passenger Ejected, Killed In Crash On I-287 In Bernards Township

A Harley-Davidson motorcycle and a Volkswagen passenger car were driving north on I-287 when the crash happened late Saturday night.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — A passenger on a motorcycle was ejected and killed following a crash on Interstate 287 in Bernards Township on Saturday night, said New Jersey State Police(NJSP) Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron.

At 10:19 p.m., NJSP Troopers responded to a motor vehicle crash on I-287 North at milepost 28.4.

Based on a preliminary investigation, a Harley-Davidson motorcycle and a Volkswagen passenger car were driving north on I-287.

In the area of milepost 28.4, the Harley-Davidson hit the Volkswagen. As a result of the crash, the vehicles ran off the road to the right, said Lebron.

The passenger on the Harley-Davidson, Tonya Reetz, a 35-year-old woman from Neshkoro, WI, was ejected and sustained fatal injuries, said Lebron.

The driver of the Harley-Davidson, Tyler George, a 36-year-old man from Tishomingo, MS, sustained moderate injuries. The driver of the Volkswagen sustained no injuries, said Lebron.

The crash remains under investigation, and no additional information is available.
