Ridge Boys Track Capture Third Straight County Championship Title

This is the third year in a row and the fifth time that the Ridge High School Boys Track team has won.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — The Ridge boys stormed their way to a dominant County Championship win last Tuesday.

This is the third year in a row and the fifth time that the boys have won. With lots of personal bests and great performances, the boys won by 50 points over Somerville, 102-52.

Leading the team were three event winners: Brenden McMahon, Joseph Dachnowicz, and Marcus Reilly.

Early in the meet, Brenden took the win in the 1600 with a time of 4:16.51, leading for most of the race. Kaleb Huang placed 3rd in 4:24.12, and Nick Alapatt was close behind in 6th, running 4:25.70. Joseph Dachnowicz won the 400m with a big PR of 49.84, good for Ridge #2 all time in the event. Marcus Reilly also won the pole vault with a PR of 13 feet.

There were several other high-scoring events.

In the 400 hurdles, Joseph Dachnowicz placed 2nd in a PR of 55.04 (Ridge #5 all time), and Marcus Reilly placed 6th in 59.03. Marcus also placed 3rd in the 110 hurdles with a time of 15.27. Kaleb Huang ran the 800m shortly after the 1600, placing 3rd in a time of 1:58.43.

Brenden McMahon doubled back in the 3200 to place 2nd, running 9:24.82. Nick Alapatt also had a strong double, running 9:48.58 to secure 4th place. Lastly, the 4x400 team of Andrew Dachnowicz, Jared Rascio, Kaleb Huang, and Joseph Dachnowicz finished 3rd with a time of 3:27.23.

Nick Elissa also scored points in the 100m, running 11.59. His time of 11.47 in the prelims is Ridge #8 all time. Joseph placed 4th in the 200m with a time of 23.34. Joseph had a huge day and competed in 4 events; he had great performances in all of them, including two new personal bests.

In the field, Jared Rascio placed 2nd in Long Jump and 3rd in Triple Jump. His marks were 21-02.5 and 41-05 respectively. Will Ligos jumped 20-09.75 in the Long Jump, good for 4th place. Will also placed 6th in High Jump with a jump of 5-08. Jacob Medenilla threw 153-01 in Javelin, which is a big PR and secured 6th place.

This Tuesday, the boys take on the Skyland Conference Championship at Hillsborough. Facing some new competition as well as the same teams from the County, the boys will be looking to take home their 3rd consecutive Conference title.
