Ridge Field Hockey Celebrates Senior Night With 5–0 Win Over Morristown

The win marked senior co-captain Maddie Garcia's third shutout of the season, and it was a night to remember for all nine Ridge seniors.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — The Ridge High School Varsity Field Hockey team delivered a dominant performance on Oct. 20, defeating the Morristown Colonials 5–0 in a game that was as emotional as it was decisive — Ridge’s annual Senior Night celebration.

The win marked senior co-captain Maddie Garcia’s third shutout of the season, and it was a night to remember for all nine Ridge seniors. With the home crowd cheering loudly, the team erupted with excitement as multiple seniors found the back of the cage.

“It was an incredible team effort,” said Head Coach Kimberly Clark. “It was so beautiful to see our seniors celebrated with so much love and enthusiasm!”

Among the game’s standout moments was senior Rachael Engle’s two-goal performance — a triumph that resonated well beyond the scoreboard.

“Rachael’s performance was so much more than just a Senior Night moment — it was an example of strength and perseverance,” said Clark. “Those who know Rachael’s story know that the fact she’s able to play field hockey is nothing short of a miracle. It was so great to see her score and the incredible celebration from her teammates and fans — it literally brought tears to our eyes.”

The victory underscored not only Ridge’s momentum on the field, but also the deep bond shared among players.

“There is so much love on this team,” said Clark. “They care for one another and have a great deal of respect and admiration for each other — not just as field hockey players, but as people.”

Coach Clark also extended gratitude to the fans and families who made the evening special.

“We are so grateful for their continued support,” she said. “The field hockey program is more than just a group of high school players — it’s a family. Senior Night is not just a way to say thank you to our seniors, but also a way to celebrate the senior families who have made so many sacrifices for their daughters’ field hockey dreams.”

Ridge will wrap up its regular season on Wednesday, Oct. 29, with an away game against Watchung Hills Regional High School, before turning its focus to the NJSIAA State Tournament in early November. With renewed confidence and strong team spirit, the Red Devils look to build on recent momentum as they prepare for the next phase of postseason play.
