Train Derailment Causes Suspended Service Overnight In Somerset County

As of Tuesday morning, the Gladstone Branch rail service has resumed in both directions between Far Hills and Gladstone.

GLADSTONE, NJ — A derailment of an NJ Transit train in Gladstone on Monday night caused the rail service to be suspended overnight.

At around 7 p.m. on Monday, a Gladstone Branch train that did not have any customers on board, experienced a low-speed derailment at the Gladstone Yard, said NJ Transit Spokesperson Kyalo Mulumbato Patch.

There were no reported injuries to the crew.

Gladstone Branch rail service was temporarily suspended in both directions from Far Hills to Gladstone, but has since resumed as of 9:11 a.m.

The cause is under investigation by rail operations.
