Trump Administration Forsaking Americans in Need

Shameful and shocking.

The Trump administration actually went to court this week in an effort NOT to provide food benefits to the poorest Americans, even though funding was available. While SNAP recipients were worried about how they would feed their families, the president was playing golf and showing off plans for a marble ballroom.

And most of his Republican colleagues (including our own representative Tom Kean) are not speaking out against his callous treatment of the needy or his policies that continue to increase the cost of living.

To make matters worse, the big, ugly bill that House Republicans passed earlier this year funded tax cuts for the wealthy by taking food benefits away from the most needy and making healthcare unaffordable for many of their lower and middle income constituents. They have done nothing to address these problems in the months since they passed the bill, yet they have chosen to enjoy a taxpayer-funded extended vacation rather than to immediately work with their colleagues to ensure that millions of Americans can afford to keep their healthcare and feed their families.

Truly shameful.
