WAMS Mathletes Placed 2nd in MathCounts State Competition
Congrats to William Annin Middle School MathCounts Team!

WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ - The William Annin Middle School (WAMS) MathCounts team achieved an impressive 2nd place finish in the New Jersey State MathCounts Competition held at Monmouth University in West Long Branch on March 15, 2025. Millburn Middle School took the first place.
The team, comprised of four talented mathletes, including 8th grader Brian Li, 7th grader Aaron Xie, and 6th graders Max Liang and David Zhang, competed against the best math students from across the state and earned a 2nd place. In the individual award competition, Max Liang finished 10th place. WAMS team advanced to the state competition after winning 1st place in the Mercer Chapter regional competition held at Mercer County Community College in West Windsor on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2025.
MathCounts is widely regarded as the most prestigious middle school math competition in the United States, and the top four students from each state will advance to the national competition on May 11 -12 in Washington D.C.
