Falling on the last Monday of May each year, Memorial Day honors those who lost their lives while serving in the military. It's a federal holiday that many people get off from work, resulting in a three-day weekend.

This year, Memorial Day falls on May 27, and for many, this holiday weekend marks the unofficial start of summer. We've rounded up some things to do Memorial Day Weekend in and around Basking Ridge. Morris Plains Memorial Day Parade And HOPE ONE Showcase

When: Saturday, May 25, 2024 - 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Where: Roberts Garden, 77 Glenbrook Road, Morris Plains, NJ 07950
What: Grab the family and head to the 38th annual Morris Plains Memorial Day Parade, featuring valued community members and veterans, live performers and entertainers. Following the parade will be a showcase of the HOPE ONE mobile recovery access vehicle, featuring on-site assistance from healthcare professionals and peer recovery specialists.

Summit Memorial Day Parade And Ceremony

When: Monday, May 27 - Line up at 9:30 a.m., Parade at 10:00 a.m.
Where: Starts at 25 Deforest Avenue, Summit, NJ 07901
What: Join the City of Summit for the annual Memorial Day parade and ceremony, a tribute to those who sacrificed their lives in military service. The family-friendly event will feature a march led by veterans, local groups and emergency services, followed by a ceremony with live music, a rifle salute and the presentation of a Veteran Lifetime Achievement Award. Free refreshments will be provided.

Middlesex Memorial Day Parade 2024

When: Monday, May 27, 2024 - 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Where: Victor Crowell Park, Willow Drive, Middlesex, NJ 08846
What: Join the Borough of Middlesex for a heartfelt Memorial Day ceremony and parade, hosted by American Legion Post 306 and the Middlesex Borough Recreation Department. The day will begin with a ceremony at Victor Crowell Park, followed by the parade kickoff at 10:45 a.m., rain or shine. After the parade, there will complimentary hot dogs and birch beer at the American Legion.

Millburn Memorial Day Parade 2024

When: Monday, May 27, 2024 - 11:00 a.m.
Where: Starts at Millburn High School, 462 Millburn Avenue, Millburn, NJ 07041
What: Commemorate Memorial Day with the Township of Millburn and American Legion Post #140 at their annual parade. The procession will begin at Millburn High School and conclude at Taylor Park, paying tribute to the veterans who have sacrificed their lives for our nation.
