William Annin Advances To CJSAA Championship For 2nd Straight Year
The season continues and will conclude in Warren on May 28.
BASKING RIDGE, NJ — An end to end complete team victory allowed the WAMS Vikings to avenge their earlier loss this season against Bridgewater in truly convincing fashion with the mercy rule being enforced after only 5 innings by a score of 16 to 2.
The WAMS Vikings have punched their ticket back to the championship game in a rematch against Warren, the same opponent from the 2023 final game.
On the mound - Hailey Adamek pitched a complete 5 innings and allowed only 2 runs against the Bridgewater team that put up 17 in the last meeting. Adamek put her pitches together in dazzling fashion to limit the talented Bridgewater hitters and allow her defense to back her up any time the ball was put in play.

On the field - the defense was rock solid. The Outfield of Callie Witte [LF] and Ella Sparrey [Right Field] and Mia Hice [CF] caught everything in the air and the Bridgewater hitters were held to one base for fear of the Cannon Arm of Hice and her Laser Focused Accuracy.
The infield was flawless in their play with Hailey Cuyun [3B] and Sydney Richel [SS] and Alexandra Lenz [2B] and Kelly Ross [1B] working together as a well-oiled and polished machine.

Behind the plate was Kasja Svensson and her ability to catch or stop every pitch thrown and ensure the Bridgewater baserunners stayed where they were - not risking an opportunity to be thrown out.
Hitting? The WAMS Vikings batted a whopping .533 as a team going 16 for 30 with 8 walks. Having an OF fence was a nice touch as the WAMS "Bomb Squad" put on a show with Miss Cuyun clearing it twice and Miss Ross clearing it once to go along with doubles from Svensson and Richel as well as hits from EVERY girl in the starting lineup as well as Avery Sandler coming off the bench to pinch hit.
It was a dominating performance and the girls are excited and more than ready to take home the League Championship next week — for the first time in school history — and stamp the year "2024" on the banner hanging in the gym once and for all.
