$1.5M ‘Win For Life’ Lottery Ticket Sold In New Jersey: ‘I’m In Shock’

"We're always stressed about bills – this makes life a lot easier," the winner said.

NUTLEY, NJ — Money can’t solve all of life’s problems – but it can make a big dent in some of them.

A “Win for Life!” lottery scratch-off ticket was recently sold at the Lucky 7 Deli on Centre Street in Nutley, officials announced Monday.

The player selected the prize’s annuity value, which guarantees at least a total of $1.5 million spread over 25 annual payments.

According to lottery officials, the winning player was out for dinner with their spouse on the evening they bought the ticket. One wanted to buy tickets in one town, but the other insisted on another store that they don’t typically visit.

“Like they ever listen to me!” the player quipped.

“I’m in shock,” the player said while claiming the prize at the New Jersey Lottery office. “I scratched the ticket. I saw the prize. I thought it was going to say ‘free ticket.’ It just didn’t click with me.”

“It was just so random,” they added. “This really changes our lives. We’re always stressed about bills. This makes life a lot easier!”

Lottery officials said that one of three “Win for Life!” top prizes is still active.
