Belleville Schools State Aid Increases by $500K

Two and a half percent increase for Belleville School district.

The Belleville School District will receive an additional $500,000 in state aid for 2013-14, bringing next year's total state aid to the district up to $25,630,065, state officials announced today.

The increase follows a year where the District's aid increased by $1,366,397, the largest dollar increase among Essex County's 22 districts.

After getting 23,763,668 in 2011-12, Belleville aid was be bumped up 5.7 percent to 25,130,065 – the fifth largest total given to a district countywide behind Newark (714,315,679), East Orange (176,635,492), Irvington (111,604,784), and Orange (71,995,702).

Of the new aid to be allotted, $2,840,089 will go toward special education, $285,421 toward security, and another $202,174 toward transportation.

Interim Belleville Superintendent of schools Helene Feldman was not available for comment. The full Belleville numbers from the state are below.
