More Fraud, Identity Theft In Nutley; Bank Accounts Targeted
Nutley residents recently reported more cases of fraud and identity theft, authorities say – this time involving their bank accounts.
NUTLEY, NJ — Nutley residents reported more cases of fraud and identity theft last week, authorities say.
According to the Nutley Police Department, the following incidents were recently reported in the township:
Oct. 12 (COEYMAN AVENUE) – “A victim of identity theft responded to headquarters to report the incident. They stated they received notification from the bank regarding suspicious activity on an account under their name, but they did not authorize the account to be opened. The victim stated the bank closed the account and they were offered the opportunity to be entered as an identity theft victim but declined at the time.”

Oct. 14 (RIVER ROAD) – “A resident responded to headquarters to report an incident of fraud. They stated they observed fraudulent charges on their bank account that they did not make. They were advised to monitor their financial accounts and offered the opportunity to be entered as an identity theft victim but declined at the time.”
Oct. 16 (HILLSIDE AVENUE) – “A victim of identity theft responded to headquarters to report the incident. They stated they received notification from who they believed to be their bank advising them of fraudulent activity on their account. They stated they realized it was likely a scam and advised their bank. They stated they had no monetary loss due to the incident and they were offered the opportunity to be entered as an identity theft victim but declined at the time.”
