Nearly $25,000 in Merchandise Stolen in Belleville

Items totalling tens of thousands in value were reported stolen from a Mill Street apartment complex last week, police said.

Around 2:35 pm Dec. 12, police received reports that three units had been broken into, including a unit used for storage, from which nothing was taken.

But at another unit, someone had pried open the front door and made off with a laptop, digital camera , a safe containing paperwork and jewelry. The estimated value of the loss was $2,700.

Losses at another unit were even higher, totalling $22,000. Taken were two laptops, two cameras, seven watches and $2,000 in cash.

Police are investigating.
