BELLEVILLE, NJ — A new boxing gym in Belleville recently got a thumbs-up from the local police department – which has also been making goodwill visits to other new businesses in town.

“From the moment we walked in, we were impressed,” the BPD reported. “This gym is absolutely beautiful in every aspect, and the proud owners made sure every detail was done to perfection.”
“They’ve got big plans for the community, and we discussed teaming up with them to bring some fun and exciting events to town—can’t wait to make it happen,” the police department added.

The club also got a warm welcome from Belleville Mayor Michael Melham, who attended last week’s ribbon cutting ceremony.
“What a remarkable facility,” he wrote in a social media post. “The place looks amazing, they have a great operator and I love their mission. Not only are they in the fitness industry, but also have a nonprofit to work with young women to build self-esteem.”

The Belleville Police Department has also been trying to put the spotlight on other local businesses that recently opened, including Montuno, La Vida Gardens, Belleville Blends, Mii Kitchen and Nevaeh Verde.
“Visiting new businesses helps build positive relationships between the police and the community by fostering trust, open communication, and mutual support,” the BPD explained. “It allows business owners and officers to connect in a friendly, non-enforcement setting, making officers more approachable. It also reassures business owners that the police are there to support them, enhancing safety and collaboration.”
“These interactions create a stronger sense of community and encourage local businesses to feel comfortable reaching out to law enforcement when needed,” the BPD added.
