Aqua Work May Cause Some In Berkeley To Lose Water Today

The areas affected include JFK Boulevard, Stanton Avenue and Gladney Street, mayor says

BERKELEY TOWNSHIP, NJ - Some Aqua New Jersey customers may have periods without water today as Aqua completes work on a water main before new iron removal plants are installed, Mayor Carmen F. Amato Jr. said.

The construction will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. If you live in the area of JFK Boulevard, Stanton Avenue and Gladney Street you may also have decreased water pressure or discolored water after the construction is completed today, he said.

If your water is discolored, run the cold water until it runs clear, Amato said.

Aqua recently announced a $12 million project that involves building three iron removal treatment facilities and a new groundwater supply well in Bayville to improve water quality for customers and increase water supply to the area.

The new facilities will treat 1.4 million gallons of water per day, from the new well and the three existing groundwater supply wells. The project is slated to be completed by July 2019.

SubscribeBayville residents, particularly in the Sylvan Lakes area, have endured periods of low water pressure and in some cases, no water pressure several times over the summer, due to water main breaks.
