Aqua New Jersey To Build Water Treatment Facilities In Bayville

The project calls for installing three iron removal facilities and another groundwater well, company officials say

BAYVILLE, NJ - For some time now, Bayville residents have complained of discolored water, posted pictures on social media and even toted samples to Township Council meetings.

Aqua New Jersey has repeatedly said the water discoloration is due to high, but harmless concentrations of iron that occur naturally.

But that may change soon. Aqua New Jersey is building three iron removal treatment facilities and a new groundwater supply well in Bayville to improve water quality for customers and increase water supply to the area, spokesperson Jessica Caufield said.

The new facilities will treat 1.4 million gallons of water per day, from the new well and the three existing groundwater supply wells. The $12 million project is slated to be completed by July 2019.

“Aqua New Jersey’s top priority is to deliver safe, reliable drinking water and wastewater services to our customers,” said Aqua New Jersey President John Hildabrant. “We have taken on an aggressive schedule to complete this project to benefit our Bayville customers to continue to provide them with high quality drinking water.”

Bayville residents, particularly in the Sylvan Lakes area, have also endured periods of low water pressure and in some cases, no water pressure several times over the summer, due to water main breaks.
