The fire has been ruled accidental by authorities, prosecutor's office say

BAYVILLE, NJ - A stovetop fire that burned a Bayville man Monday evening while he was cooking french fries has been ruled accidental, according to the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office.
Police and members of the Bayville Fire Department responded to a home in the 200 block of Iger Way at 8:34 p.m. on a report of an appliance fire with injuries, said Al Della Fave, spokesman for the prosecutor's office.
The fire was already out, but the 78-year-old man had burns on his head and hands. The victim told police he was cooking french fires on the stove when the oil ignited, Della Fave said.
