Car Catches Fire In Berkeley's Johnson's Pit, Officials Say (PHOTOS)

The fire was reported shortly after midnight Tuesday, according to the Bayville Volunteer Fire Company.

BERKELEY, NJ — A vehicle caught fire in Johnson's Pit just after midnight Tuesday, according to the Bayville Volunteer Fire Company.

Firefighters went to the pit at about 12:30 a.m. to find a vehicle engulfed in flames. They quickly stretched a handline to bring the blaze under control, officials said.

"Thanks to the swift actions of our volunteers, the fire was extinguished without further incident and no injuries were reported," the fire department said.
