Berkeley Police Arrest Lacey Man On Heroin Charges

Police found Jamie L. Acosta, 30, with a full syringe of heroin in his car, police chief says

BAYVILLE, NJ - Berkeley police recently arrested a Forked River man after they found him with a loaded syringe of heroin in his vehicle, Police Chief Karin T. DiMichele said.

Patrolman Justin Heffernan and Patrolman Edward Hendrickson responded to the parking lot of 551 Forest Hills Parkway on a suspicious vehicle report on March 18.

The driver was identified as Jamie L. Atcosta, 30, of Forked River. Patrolman Heffernan spotted a hypodermic syringe loaded with a brown liquid that he recognized as heroin, DiMichele said.

The officers also found six glassine bags of heroin in the vehicle. They arrested Acosta and took him to police headquarters, where he was charged with possession of heroin, possession of a hypodermic needle and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, the chief said.

He was released on a summons with a court date set, she said.
