Berkeley Police Find Heroin Near School Bus Stop In Bayville

Multiple wax folds discovered a roadway in the Mill Creek Island condominium complex.

Berkeley Township police discovered multiple wax folds of heroin near bus stops in a roadway at the Mill Creek Island complex off Ocean Gate Drive, Police Chief Karin T. DiMichele said.

Patrolman Michael Riccardelli responded at 8:27 a.m. on Oct. 4, after someone called police to report suspected drugs or drug paraphernalia in the roadway.

"The caller was concerned due to the proximity of school bus stops to where the items were found," the chief said.

When patrol units arrived, they found multiple wax folds of suspected heroin. The items were seized as evidence and are being analyzed. The owner of the items is unknown.

The matter is under investigation by the Berkeley Township detective bureau.
