Berkeley Township Police Investigating Several Burglaries

Police looking for tips about any of the three incidents, police chief says.

Berkeley Township detectives are investigating three unsolved burglary incidents that occurred in different sections of the township, Police Chief Karin T. DiMichele said.

Anyone with any information about any of the three incidents should call the Detective Bureau at 732-341-1132, ext. 66, or e-mail detective@btpdnj.org.

May 29 - Patrolman Butler responded to a Ceylon Avenue home on a burglary report at 6:15 p.m. The victim told police that he returned home from a vacation to find his back door had been forced open and his bedrooms had been ransacked. The glass pane in the rear door was shattered and the door had been left ajar. The victim told police that jewelry and credit cards had been stolen.

Detective Tier arrived and began the investigation, which is still ongoing.

May 27 - Patrolman Houghkirk responded to a Pigeon Place residence on a report of a burglary to a motor vehicle at 8:52 a.m . The victim told police that an unknown person or persons took his wallet and phone charger out of his unlocked vehicle.

May 24 - Patrolman Foca, Patrolman Williams and Ptl. Robert Flanegan responded to a residence on Maria Lane in reference to an attempted burglary at 6:10 p.m. The victim told police that three screens on his window were torn and someone had tried to get into the house. Police canvassed the neighborhood without success.
