Coastal Ocean County Beach Weather Report For June 12, 2017

Sunny skies in the forecast today, with a low risk of rip currents

If you're lucky enough to have the day off, today's another good day to head to the beach, without the crowds.

The National Weather Service is calling for sunny skies with highs in the mid-80s. Winds will be from the west at 5 miles per hour at first, switching over to the south at 15 miles per hour in the afternoon. The ultraviolet index is a 9, which the NWS considers very high, so don't forget your sunscreen.

Waves will be around three feet high, with southerly swells of two to three feet. The ocean water temperture is slowly warming up, but it's still a chilly 63 degrees. There's a low risk of rip currents today, but rips can always occur near jetties and other structures. The NWS suggests that you always bring a floatation device with you in the water. Never swim on an unguarded beach, alone or at night.
