Good Luck Point In Bayville Was Ground Zero In Berkeley Township During Superstorm Sandy
The small spit of land in the lowest section of the township was nearly obliterated on Oct 29, 2012.

A date that will not soon be forgotten, if ever, by anyone who lived in Bayville section of Berkeley Township four years ago today. That was the day Superstorm Sandy came to town.
Good Luck Point, Glen Cove, Holly Park, Belair, Pelican Island, South Seaside Park and other small waterfront sections in Berkeley were all hit hard.

But none as hard as Good Luck Point, a tiny community that juts out into Barnegat Bay just off Bayview Avenue. Good Luck Point was nearly obliterated.
Four years later, much of the landscape has changed. There's only a few of the small, two-bedroom ranches on slabs left. Mold bombs waiting to be torn down, dwarfed by new homes on pilings.

Empty lots where houses once stood, with battered "for sale" signs. Take a ride down Good Luck Drive. Wherever you see a mailbox, that's where a house once stood. That's where a family once lived. That's where memories were made.
Higher housing prices and ever-rising flood insurance bills will keep many out of Good Luck Point.
