Island Beach State Park Is Closed Until Crowds Dissipate

Park often closes at times during the summer, when bathing beaches and parking lots are full

ISLAND BEACH STATE PARK - The state has closed Island Beach State Park temporarily, since the two bathing beaches and the parking lots have reached capacity, according to the park's Facebook page.

"We're sorry for the inconvenience and hope to see you soon!" the post states. "We usually reopen within 1 to 3 hours, depending on incoming traffic and the number of vehicles leaving from the swim areas."

Closing the park temporarily due to crowding is not unusual during the summer months. You can check the park's Facebook page for updates.
