It's Graduation Night At Central Regional High School In Bayville

Roughly 325 students are expected to graduate this evening, superintendent says.

The signs along Forest Hills Parkway are an annual rite of summer for Central Regional High School.

Pictures and names of graduates are fastened to the chain link fence or on signs studding the shoulder of the roadway. It's been going for as long as Superintendent Triantafillos "Tom" Parlapanides - a graduate of the high school - can remember.

"The sign thing has been going on I believe since 1983," he said. "I will check my Facebook page because I know it was discussed last year and someone had the start date. I love the tradition and I don't know if any other schools do the same thing. All I know is that Central Regional was the original."
