National Weather Service Issues Flood Advisory For Ocean And Monmouth Counties

Flooding on Long Beach Island has been reported.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood advisory for all of Ocean and Monmouth counties for most of the afternoon, with drenching rains and high winds.

Residents can expect roadway flooding and flooding in areas of poor drainage until at least 4 p.m. Rainfall amounts between half an inch and three-quarters an inch an hour can be expected.

Surf City police report that all roadways experiencing flooding in town. Central Avenue is flooded over on the south end near the library. Please avoid this area if possible.

The shoulders are flooded on Long Beach Boulevard and across the roadway, police said.

Rain will start to taper off by midnight and the temperature will drop to 48 degrees. Sunday will be partly sunny, but scattered showers are possible after noon, the NWS said.
